2018 AFP DFW Philanthropy in Action Conference Scholarships

The Greater Dallas and Fort Worth Metro Chapters of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) are pleased to announce the availability of ten scholarships for the 2018 AFP DFW Philanthropy in Action Conference. Each scholarship pays for the cost of full registration and lunch for one attendee. The one-day conference will be held at the Irving Convention Center on Friday, June 15, 2018, and will offer a wealth of information and networking opportunities for fundraising professionals.

Applicants are encouraged to read the qualification and application materials carefully. Then download the applications, complete it, scan it and email the application materials. The materials must be received by 5:00 pm on Monday, April 30, 2018. Applications received after the deadline will not be reviewed or considered.

Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship is open to anyone, but preference will be given to members of AFP. Applicants will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Currently a paid (staff) or non-paid (volunteer) or intern of a nonprofit organization in the state of Texas.
  • Have an interest in pursuing a career in the field of fundraising.
  • Spend a significant amount of time fundraising for a nonprofit organization.

Special consideration is given to individuals from organizations with limited funds available for training opportunities.

Application Checklist

The following information must be submitted for a scholarship application to be considered:

  • Completed Application Form
  • A one-page narrative discussing your involvement in the nonprofit sector, including information on the organization for which you work (purpose, population served, etc.) and an explanation of how the conference will benefit you and your organization.
  • Proof of organization's tax-exempt status.
  • One-page summary of your organization's budget including a short narrative on lack of funds for conference training.

Additional Information

Preference will be given to scholarship applicants working for nonprofit organization in the North Texas Region. Within thirty days following the conference, awardees must complete a written evaluation of the conference including what workshops they attended and how the knowledge gained will help them and their organization.

Award Notification

Applicants will be notified by Monday, May 7, 2018. Applicants who do not receive a scholarship will be eligible for the "early bird" conference registration fee. The scholarship is non-transferable.
